I've lived most of my life using a road bike. I always thought that mountain bikes were too clunky looking. It's true that mountain bikes are inefficient to use on the road. It's a good idea to use a road bike for your daily commutes.

But, one day I just happened to be using my friend's mountain bike because I needed to get somewhere by way of mountain roads. It was the most fun I had ever had. I didn't realize how much fun mountain bikes can be. My friend had a Cannondale. These are nice bikes. So, the next day I went to the store to look at their Cannondale mountain bikes. Now I'm back to tell you about they differ from each other.

All Price Ranges

Cannondale makes bikes for everyone's price range. Whether you want to spend a couple hundred on a bike, or ten thousand, Cannondale will have you covered. I didn't buy the ten thousand dollar bike. I think that is an absurd amount of money to spend on a bike. I mean, if you are going to spend that much you might as well get a car. Still, there are people out there who love their ten thousand dollar bikes. If I had to guess, I'd say that Cannondale probably would be a good choice for them.

Cannondale F8

I looked at the cheaper bikes. First I looked at the F8. This is one of Cannondale's cheaper bikes. It's priced at about four hundred dollars. This is a pretty reasonable price. It's not made out of the fancy material that some of the more expensive bikes are. Still, it looks pretty well made. It didn't look like it was going to fall apart.

I decided I wanted something that was a little better. I had been saving up my money, and decided I could afford to spend up to a thousand on a bike. Well, when I told the guy at the store that, he brought me to a different section. We looked at some nicer Cannondale mountain bikes.

Cannondale RZ

I ended up getting hooked on the RZ. It was a little out of my price range at fifteen hundred, but it was such a good looking bike. I didn't want something that didn't look good. I wanted something that I knew wouldn't fall apart. The guy at the store assured me that this was a bike that wouldn't fall apart.

He let me try the bike out. It handled very well. That is what I was impressed about. I wanted to try it out on some mountain roads, but there weren't any of those in the parking lot. After I did a couple bunny hops he asked for the bike back. I think I'll probably get that one.

The Way to Go

Cannondale mountain bikes are the way to go. They make a great product. Also, their name is trusted amongst bikers. That says a lot about a company. I hope this has helped you out. Good luck choosing your own mountain bike.

How to Measure for Your Correct Bike Size

You need to get a tape measure and measure your inseam. This measurement will be calculated to discover the proper size of bike you should purchase.

The inseam is the measurement from your crotch to your foot. Stand tall against a wall and have someone take this measurement for you. This will ensure you get the correct measurement. This measurement should be the size of your bike.

Once you have your inseam measurement, multiply that figure times 65. Round your answer up to the next whole number. Then, because we want the size of the bike to fit you best, you'll need to take away 4 inches from that total. The final total will give you the size of the frame you will need on your bike for the best possible fit.

Tip Number 2 - Set yourself a budget and stick to it

Following on from above, it is too easy to spend a lot of money needlessly, or talk yourself into buying something that you don't really need. If you are just going cruising or cross country then spending a lot of money on a high end full suspension will be a waste of money. Conversely if you intend on free riding and downhill then a hard tail will not be the ideal choice of ride. Be aware however, at the budget end of the market, full suspension bikes tend to be heavy, components are cheaper to offset the cost of the additional parts required, and maintenance requirements are more than with a hard tail.

Tip Number 3 - Go for quality where possible

This might sound obvious but a cheap mountain bike is exactly that, a compromise of quality over price. In order to get the price down there will be compromises on every level, materials, quality of the running gear, how it has been assembled. Buying cheap may prove to be a false economy and end up costing you more in the long run. A cheap mountain bike is likely to be heavy, prone to breakdown and require more repairs and maintenance. In a lot of cases buying a quality second hand bike is better than buying a budget new bike.
